Too long

It has been much too long since I posted. I have been in chrage of planning our "Match" ceremony which happens this Thursday. The Match is the day (and hour) where every medical student in America finds out where they will be spending the next 3-7 years of their life. Kyle has a fancy name for the algorithm that is used in matching ranks lists submitted by both the students and the Residency programs, but for the most part I believe the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP)uses voodoo.

I am fortunate in that I have a pretty good idea of where I will wind up. Many others aren't so fortunate. Despite my position, however, there is still a fairly large level of stress involved. My next three years are going to be determined by numerous (fallible)inputs by myself and the residency programs into a computer that doesn't care where I wind up. Crazy. I'll let you know how it turns out.

On a lighter note, I went to the Rockies/White Sox spring training game today. I have never had any real interest in baseball, nor have I ever had a "team," but it is really hard to beat sitting in the bleachers on an 80 degree afternoon in March in Tucson. Not to mention the come-from-behind victory and winning-run-off-a-broken-bat performance by the White Sox. One of many things I will miss when we move North.
