Welcome to the world Robert Allen Pago Pago (Insert Strong Samoan Surname here)

I have been looking for the inspiration to write. It has literally been weeks. I am not at wont for stories, but the time, the energy, the je ne sais quoi to put them to the shiny screen (I never use paper and rarely proof read) has been lacking. I don’t know. Maybe it is the culmination of a year and a half in Residency, the lack of sleep due to the precocious 18 month old in my home, the darkness (the short days, not The Darkness – they make me smile), or just a pure blue funk. I don’t know, but as always I apologize for my absence.

The important thing is that I return to the blogosphere with flaming grace and redemption (sorry a little too Biblical, but again, I rarely proofread and never – well hardly ever – change my initial thoughts) to present a young man child. One of Samoan descent. A child who entered this world without assistance on my part, but was born in the hospital due to my medical naggability. Get to the point you say…

This child was named after me. Yes, a patient of mine actually named their child after me. What responsibility lies here? What is the proper etiquette? Will this child curse me for the fates that are tied to his forname? I wish the best for him. I wish a lifetime of diversity and appropriate struggle with bountiful outcomes. I am touched and heartened and a little embarrassed. But a little happier.

Congrats having a namesake.

So here's some ideas of things to post on your blog...pics of your kid, wife and self. Updates of what said child can do (walk, talk, steer wrestle, discrete nonlinear computation).

Good to see you're still kicking though.

You're always welcome in sunny SD.

Wow. That's a pretty deep honor.

Glad to see a sign of life from the north...and remember is better to write what you want when you can than what you don't when you should be doing something else...

Here's hoping that the new year will bring you some inspiration to write. There's nothing more depressing than being a blog-lurker and having to go MONTHS between posts!

Hope the cold and snow hasn't gotten you down!!

Stay warm and keep blogging! :o)
